This beautiful clock is a custom reproduction of 100+ year old "Ansonia Ball Swing Clock'" commonly referred to as a mastery clock. Produced most likely in the mid 1970s. There was a series of 10 commissioned designs, all produced to closely replicate the originals. The dimensions and details are nearly identical with only slight differences in construction and appearance. The original clock statue was made from zinc alloy which is a lightweight and fragile.
This highly desirable reproduction, of a water boy figure, is made from oil rubbed cast bronze and is much heavier than the original. Clock ball is a majestic cobalt blue. Clock base is black marble.
The movement is encased in the ball and is made from brass and steel. Mechanism is designed to hang from delicate suspension spring. The long arm portion swings left to right when wound for roughly 4 days. The spring does have some wear, for this was probably designed to run for 8 days originally.
The dial features a Roman hour numeral and replica plastic hands. an authentic pre-fit key is provided to wind and run clock upon receiving. The piece stands about 22 inches tall by 9 inches wide.
